Interactive Session on Migration of Existing Tax Payers Under GST | 4th January 2017

The process of migration of more than 8 million taxpayers to the goods and services tax (GST) network kicked off on 8 November 2016, with the launch of GSTN website, as the Centre and the states gear up for a transition to this biggest singular tax reform from the next financial year. The website www.gst.gov.in will enable taxpayers located across different states to update their information and other relevant documents as a first step towards obtaining a registration number under GST.

In order reduce burden on the IT infrastructure and to facilitate smooth migration into GST, state-wise migration process is scheduled in phased manner. The phase-wise migration process which started with Puducherry and Sikkim on 8 November 2016 will go on till 31 January 2017. As per the schedule, migration process is due to start in Karnataka from 01 January 2017 and will go on till 15 January 2017. With a view to provide greater insights on GSTN user interface, procedure and documentation requirements, Karnataka State Chartered Accountants Association (“KSCAA”) organizes an interactive session with Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (e-Audit), Government of Karnataka.
